Katherine Bowdish, Ph.D.

Katherine S. Bowdish, Ph.D. – Chief Executive Officer

Prior to joining Anaphore, Dr. Bowdish simultaneously served as President of Alexion Antibody Technologies and Senior Vice President of Alexion Pharmaceuticals [NASDAQ: ALXN]. Alexion Antibody Technologies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alexion Pharmaceuticals, was formed in September 2000 with the acquisition of Prolifaron. Dr. Bowdish was the founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientific Officer of Prolifaron, a privately held antibody discovery company that grew through partnerships with companies including Centocor and GSK, and emerged as an innovative leader in antibody therapeutics with a focus on developing new treatments for cancer, autoimmune disorders, and infectious diseases. Dr. Bowdish led the company from inception, to development of a portfolio of preclinical and clinical drug candidates, and ultimately through its acquisition by Alexion. She received her formal education in molecular genetics at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (Ph.D.) and in biology at the College of William and Mary (B.S.). Dr. Bowdish has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and has an extensive intellectual property portfolio, primarily focused in the area of molecular immunology.

Bruce D. Steel, CFA

Bruce D. Steel, CFA – Chief Business Officer

Mr. Steel is an innovative and entrepreneurial leader with extensive biotechnology business development, finance, and operational experience. He has been responsible for partnerships with several of the world’s premier biopharmaceutical companies, including Biogen Idec, Bristol-Myers Squibb, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, and Roche, and for corporate financings in excess of $100 million. Prior to joining Anaphore, Mr. Steel was the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Rincon Pharmaceuticals, a privately held biotechnology company that was acquired in July 2008. Prior to Rincon, he was head of corporate development at Ambit Biosciences, a biotechnology company engaged in the discovery and development of small-molecule kinase inhibitors for the treatment of cancer. Mr. Steel is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, and holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst.




Anke Kretz-Rommel, Ph.D.

Anke Kretz-Rommel, Ph.D. – Vice President Research & Development

Dr. Kretz-Rommel has more than 15 years of experience in discovering and developing antibodies for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Prior to Anaphore, she led multiple discovery and development efforts as head of the Cellular Immunology group at Alexion Antibody Technologies and was a key investigator on a first-in-class drug currently in clinical trials for chronic lymphocytic leukemia, leading the program from discovery through preclinical modeling and pre-IND preparation. Dr. Kretz-Rommel received her post-doctoral training at the Autoimmune Disease Center of The Scripps Research Institute and holds a Ph.D. in Toxicology from the ETH Zurich, Switzerland. She is co-inventor or author on over fifty manuscripts, patents, patent applications and abstracts related to molecular pharmacology, autoimmune disease and oncology.
